Après une saison difficile à expliquer qui s'est soldée par une première exclusion des séries des Briuins depuis la 1ere année du DG Héroux à la barre de l'équipe, beaucoup de mouvements étaient à prévoir cet été.
Les Bruins se sont toujours maintenus au sommet sans devoir croupir dans la cave du classement pendant cinq ans, l'objectif de l'équipe étant de maintenir une formation qui peut aspirer aux grands honneurs tous les ans sur du long terme. Voyant l'équipe arriver peu à peu à la croisée des chemins, nous devions redresser la barre et notre plan était clair :
1- Assurer la relève de la ligne de centre de l'équipe qui se fait vieillissante
Avec entre autres dans le pipeline, le jeune Thomas Bordeleau et Nicolas Roy acquis à la date limite des échanges, les Bruins ont décidé de sacrifier le meilleur attaquant de l'équipe, J.T. Miller pour obtenir ce que nous croyons être le futur centre no.1 de l'équipe, Matty Beniers. Les jeunes Marco Kasper, Filip Bystedt et Aleksanteri Kaskimaki ont ensuite été selectionnés par l'équipe au repêchage.
2- Échanger des contrats pour des jeunes et des choix de repêchage et remplacer les vides par le marché des agents libres
J.T. Miller, Mark Giordano. Markus Granlund, Jordan Greenway, Kaapo Kahkonen et Scott Mayfield ont ainsi quitté l'équipe pour nous permettre d'acquérir plusieurs choix et regarnir la banque d'espoirs avant de mettre sous contrat deux pièces majeures pour 7 ans sur le marché des joueurs autonomes, le défenseur Devon Toews et l'attaquant Valeri Nichushkin. La signature du défenseur de soutien Robert Bortuzzo, l'émergence de Jake Oettinger et les acquisitions de Nicolas Roy et Mathieu Joseph en fin de saison dernière combleront les autres trous laissés dans la formation et l'équipe travaille encore sur quelques ajouts.
3- Faire le nécessaire pour redevenir aspirant à la coupe Stanley dès cette année
Trois transactions ont été conclues cette semaine. D'abord pour libérer des contrats, ensuite pour acquérir un levier pour finalement conclure avec l'acquisition d'un attaquant qui comblera le manque sur notre top 6. Les détails de ces transactions restent à venir mais Travis Konecny, Artem Zub et quelques jeunes prospects et choix auront dû être sacrifiés pour obtenir un attaquant de pointe et plus d'espace sur la masse salariale. Comme il reste quelques ajustements à compléter, nous présenterons l'édition finale des Bruins avant le début de la saison.
Bref, on va se battre avec Toronto maintenant et on va encore pouvoir se battre avec Nashville dans cinq ans...
