Ayant eu la chance de repêcher tôt dans les dernières années, les Devils se sont bâtis une bonne banque d’espoir. La direction se montre patient avec le développement de ses joueurs, qui n’est pas toujours au niveau où elle l’aurait espéré pour atteindre ses objectifs de reconstructions. Voici l’état des forces pour leurs jeunes joueurs :
En attaque :
Akil Thomas et Xavier Bourgault : En 2021, New Jersey a choisi de descendre son rang en raison du manque de données sur les prospects découlant des arrêts dans plusieurs ligues en raison de la pandémie. New Jersey visait un gardien de but de haut calibre, mais n’a pas été déçu qu’ils soient tous sortis quand Bourgault était encore disponible. Un joueur que nous voyons dans notre top 6. Dans cet échange, nous avons également fait l’acquisition d’Akil Thomas, qui présente un bon potentiel offensif.
Alex Turcotte : Acquis à fort prix sur le marché des échanges, les Devils commencent à craindre qu’il n’atteigne pas le plafond qu’on lui prédisait alors qu’il se veut présentement un joueur de soutien dans le club-école. Il semble également fragile aux blessures.
Ben Meyers : New Jersey a reporté le derby pour signer Meyers en fin de saison dernière et le voit comme un potentiel top 9.
Brett Leason : Étiqueté comme joueur de la ligue américaine, nous ne demandons qu’à être surpris par Leason.
Cole Perfetti : 1er choix au repêchage de 2020, Perfetti fait parti des plus bels espoirs à l’attaque au New Jersey, surtout considérant nos lacunes à la position de centre.,
Owen Tippett : New Jersey a resigné Tippett pour 2 ans dans la saison morte, mais il s’agit de la dernière période d’évaluation pour qu’il prouve qu’il peut être un actif.
Raphaël Lavoie : Acquis dans un échange contre Josh Anderson, Lavoie était le joueur convoité par New Jersey qui n’avait pas réussi à la repêcher à son année de disponibilité. Un gros joueur de centre qui risque de prendre du temps à se développer.
Ryan McLeod : Nous considérons que ce joueur est appelé à quitter le club école et à intégrer notre formation dès l’année prochaine avec la prévision au niveau de la gestion de notre effectif.
En défense :
Philip Broberg : À mettre dans la colonne des déceptions compte tenu de son lent développement et du rang auquel il a été repêché, Broberg possède tous les outils pour rebondir. Il a été devancé par d’autres joueurs plus âgés dans l’organigramme, mais nous ne sommes pas prêts à jeter la serviette.
Rasmus Dahlin : Bien qu’il soit un joueur établi sur la première paire de défense de New Jersey depuis déjà quelques années, il fait encore parti des jeunes de moins de 23 ans. La direction est satisfaite de lui avoir fait signer un contrat à long terme qui pourrait se voir une aubaine dans les années à venir avec sa progression qui se poursuit.
Timothy Liljegren : Le prochain joueur rappelé du club-école en cas de blessure, il est dans les plans pour intégrer le grand club dès l’année prochain sur une 2è ou 3è paire.
Dans les buts :
Aucun prospect intéressant, mais avec Shesterkin dans les buts pour encore quelques années, notre équipe de repêchage demeure confiant d’aller chercher quelques candidats potentiels qui pourront se développer dans notre organisation.
