Malgré une volonté d’être compétitif, le début de saison est plutôt catastrophique en Caroline. C’est donc le bon moment de regarder nos jeunes et montrer un peu d’espoir aux fans. Bien que les choix n’aient pas été dans le top dans les dernières années et que le DG a fait entorse en ses habitudes pour aller chercher Couturier contre un 1er il y a quelques années, certains jeunes sont quand même promoteurs. Couturier aura permis d’aller chercher le gros bol et a été échangé cet été contre un 1er choix 2023 et Aliaksei Protas avant son contrat un peu trop gourmand pour les coffres de la fierté de Raleigh.
Nicholas Robertson, 21 ans : Ailier gauche offensif qui doit jouer sur le top 6 pour montrer sa valeur. Aura-t-il une vraie chance à Toronto cette année?
Philip Tomasino, 21 ans : Centre complet. Après une saison dans la grande ligue, il fait un séjour dans la AHL pour lui permettre de remontée en force.
Ty Dellandrea, 22 ans : Centre intéressant qui tarde à montrer qu’il appartient à la NHL. Il évolue présentement à l’aile en espérant trouver sa niche.
Nick Suzuki, 23 ans : Centre inspiran voué à un grand rôle avec les Canes.
Aliaksei Protas, 21 ans : Centre de format monstrueux, toujours utile d’avoir ce protoype de joueur dans la formation
Pierre-Olivier Joseph, 23 ans : Défenseur, tarde à s’imposer dans la NHL mais on aime encore son potentiel.
Brad Lambert, 18 ans : Centre mystère. Le type de choix “go big or go home” que l’on aime en Caroline. Son arrivée en Amérique est intéressante, on suit le dossier de près.
Est-ce que le vent va tourner bientôt pour les Canes ou des changements sont à prévoir? Le feeling d'être dans l'oeil de l'ouragan est bien présent.
