Après une saison 2018-2019 en dents de scie où les Canucks ont dû trimer dur dans une division contenant de puissants clubs comme les Ducks et les Coyotes, Vancouver a raté la danse printanière malgré un club qui, sur papier, aurait mérité un meilleur sort.
Loin d’être aussi active qu’à son habitude, la direction des Canucks a joué de prudence cet été pour s’acclimater aux nouvelles règles du jeu. Néanmoins, quelques transactions ont été bouclées. Certaines par nécessité, d’autres par plaisir.
Au final, quittent Vancouver divers UFA ainsi que David Rittich et Rasmus Ristolainen, et y arrivent les Jeff Carter, Robert Hagg, P-E Bellemarre et Casey Mittelstadt. Quelques choix et espoirs ont aussi changé de mains en cours de route.

Pas une équipe de championnat, mais nous estimons que faire les séries demeure un objectif à la portée de ce groupe.
Les Canucks disposent toujours de 10M sous le plafond salarial pour cette saison, ce qui donne une marge de manouvre intéressante pour transiger avec nos homologues coincés sur le plan salarial, ou encore pour nous améliorer.
Par ailleurs, l’avenir du club demeure intéressant. Le pipeline de Vancouver contient dans ses rangs les défenseurs Conor Timmins, Juuso Valimaki, Sami Niku et Mattias Samuelsson ainsi que les attaquants Cole Caulfield, Troy Terry, Jason Robertsson et Raphael Lavoie, pour ne nommer que ceux-là.
