Après quelques saisons difficiles et une reconstruction comlète, débuté il y a neuf ans, les Pingouins font maintenant parti des clubs de tête de la LHSOI.
La saison 2020-2021 est très satisfaisante. Pittsburgh joue du hockey inspiré et va entrer en séries éliminatoires par la grande porte. Les partisans qui ont longtemps souffert aspirent maintenant de voir leur club chéri franchir quelques rondes. La majorité des objectifs fixés par les sponsors devraient être atteint et le plaisir de voir Philadelphie derrière nous au classement est un extase difficile à égaler. Éliminer ces ennemis jurés en playoffs serait la cerise sur le sundae!!!
En ce qui concerne le sujet qui commence à bruler toutes les lèvres: le repêchage d'expension du Kraken, les Pingouins devront faire un choix déchirant...
Reportons nous au draft de 2015. Pittsburgh avait jeté son dévolu sur deux gardiens: l'étoile montante de Magnitogorsk, Ilya Samsonov 14e overall et Mackenzie Blackwood, en 2e ronde, 41e overall, des Colts de Barrie. Aujourd'hui, les Pingouins ont un portier d'avenir, deux devrais-je dire... Mais l'un d'eux évolura assurément sous d'autres cieux en 2021-2022... Quelques DG avertis ont détecté cette occasion et nous ont approché pour ces jeunes cerbères. Une offre en particulier semble déjà très intéressante... reste à voir si ces gardiens susciteront plus d'intérêt d'ici l'expension.
