Après une élimination rapide en première ronde contre les Rangers, quelques décisions difficiles devaient être prises à Pittsburgh.
Les Pingouins ont choisi de préserver, comme gardien d'avenir, Ilya Samsonov. Considérant que Blackwood est un conspirationiste anti-vaccin, adepte des théories des chemtrails, de la terre plate et du grand œil qui voit tout, il devenait impératif de lui trouver un filet loin, très loin, de la Pennsylvanie.
Grâce à un ménage à trois avec Philadelphie, le cerbère s'est retouvé avec les Requins sur la côte ouest.Au passage, le prometteur défenseur Ty Smith et le choix de 1er tour des Flyers a été engrangé pour l'encan 2021. Philadelphie a reçu celui de Pittsburgh en 2022 en plus de Casey DeSmith.
Puisque le repêchage d'expansion exposait quelques talents dans notre défensive, Jake Bean fut, lui aussi, expédié à San José contre un autre choix de premier tour en 2021.
Lors de l'expansion, c'est Chris Driedger qui fut sélectionné chez les Pingouins. Choix de troisième ronde en 2012, 76e au total, ce gardien roulait sa bosse à Wilkes-Barre Scranton depuis quelques saisons. L'organisation voyait enfin son développement s'épanouir pour gagner la LNH et nous lui souhaitons la meilleure des chance à Seattle.
Le repêchage amateur fut dès plus faste. Onze nouveaux joueurs se sont joint à notre organisation dont: Ceulemans, Svechkov, Othmann, Lohrei et Duke pour ne nommer que ceux là. Encore beaucoup de travail pour les amener à aider le grand club, mais l'avenir s'annonce brillante et nos éclaireurs sont fou de joie partout sur le globe. Parlant d'espoirs, quelques uns frappent à la porte de Pittsburgh: Quinn, Poulin, Lindberg, Veleno et Ruzicka. L'année qui vient sera déterminante pour leur développement.
La saison ne sera pas de tout repos dans la division métropolitaine mais nous pensons avoir les outils offensifs pour rivaliser et se tailler une place dans les séries éliminatoires.
