Soyons franc... le début de saison des Panthers est totalement innacceptable. Voir médiocre ! Suite à une pré-saison toute aussi décevante, la saison s'annoncait très longue sous le soleil de la floride... et c'est le cas !
Dg Leclerc a dû composé avec une masse salariale trop haute suite aux signatures estivales des UFA et RFA... Plusieurs joueurs ont été offerts aux autres clubs pour espéré descendre la masse, sans grand succès. Pas trop dur à comprendre puisque même offert gratuitement au ballotage ils ne furent pas réclamé...! Ils ont été caché dans les mineurs pour diminuer la masse.
Défaite après défaite, un approche stratégique plus défensif en opposant les joueurs défensifs aux meilleurs trios adverses a été tenté mais rien ne change dans les résultats des matchs. Les Panthers se font écraser matchs après matchs... Tous les joueurs ont de la difficulté à performer à leur véritable niveau... comme en témoigne la colonne des +/-. Le seul joueur dans le positif dans cette séquences désastreuse; Cedric Paquette !!!
Des changements ont été apportés... En premier temps, Reilly Smith est échangé aux puissant Stars de Dallas en retour d'un 1er choix 2022 et 3e 2023... et par la suite Olli Maata est envoyé aux Sabre de Buffalo pour le jeune prospect Landon Slaggert, choix de 3e round de Chicago - NHL et un 5e 2023. Slaggert est un joueur énergique qui apportera de l'intensité sur la 3e ligne et voir même la 2e après ses études universitaires.
Lueur d'espoir depuis les 5 derniers matchs...!! Les Panthers sont méconnaissable depuis leur victoire de 6-2 contre Tampa Bay le 13 novembre derniers... fiche de 4-0-1 et ont surclassé leurs adversaires 24-15 au niveau des buts pour !! Excellente performance du Capitaine Crosby 5b-4p 9pts, de Cedric Paquette 6b-2p 8pts, de Barbashev 1b-7p 8pts ainsi que le vétéran Dustin Brown avec 5pts (2b-3p) durant cette séquence de 5 parties !!
